One of the most favorite and valued game among humanity is the game of Backgammon. Backgammon is one of the oldest games in human history. It is as popular as checkers and chess. If you have not heard about backgammon, you may find it complex and confusing. Like many games, backgammon is not very easy or not very hard. After playing few times, one can understand this game and its tactics.

At a time, two players can play Backgammon. Backgammon is a board game, having twenty-four points of triangle shape and fifteen checkers. The board is divided into four parts or quadrants, every part consisting six triangles. The quadrants are referred to as a player’s home board and outer board, and the opponent’s home board and outer board. Player tries to bring his own checkers home and bear them off before his opponent does, hitting and blocking the enemy checkers along the way. The checkers are moved according to rolls of the dice.

Backgammon game was played in many societies with some variations. In many culture it was the game played by royalty or nobles. However, in many cultures, all classes of society played it.  In the Past many times this board game was banned, but after some time again it revived. This game has seen lots of ups and downs. In seventeenth century,  in England this game got its present name. In 1970s backgammon became very popular. With the advent of Internet in 1990s, backgammon again became popular. Today you can play this game online with people from all over the world.

To know of backgammon game well, you must give it a try. Although, it is a game of luck, but there are some rooms for strategy also. With each roll of the dice a player must choose from numerous options for moving his checkers and anticipate possible counter-moves by the opponent.
