video game review
Game rental websites usually offer thousands of games for all the popular gaming systems, including: Playstation 3, Playstation 2, PSP, XBox, XBox 360 and Nintendo’s DS & Wii.

Online game rental services are less expensive than buying games new, and cheaper and more convenient than the local video game rentals shop, because there are no return dates and no late fees. Just choose and rent games from your computer & the game rental website will mail them to you. All video game rental companies will pay postage both ways, so you don’t even have to buy stamps.

Instead of paying a new fee for each game rental, you should be able to customize your rental plan to match your gaming habits. Your game rental plan cost should be based how many games you want to rent at a time, not how many games you turn over in a month. Rent anywhere from 2 games to 5 at the same time, all for a fixed, low monthly fee.

You need an online game rental service with exceptional service online and off. Freedvdtrials.com used these criteria to judge game rental services:

Feature Set – game rental services should offer free, two–way shipping for video games, should never charge late fees and should offer a trial membership for free. game rental services should also rank games for maturity and age appropriateness, make game previews and customer reviews easy to find and should allow you to cancel membership any time.

Game Selection – A game rental service should offer a wide variety of game genres for all ages and tastes. These games should work on all the popular gaming systems.

Search Capabilities – We look for game rental services that make searching for games simple; you should be able to search by game system type, popularity, name and audience–appropriate rank.

Game Arrival Time – game rental services should have several strategies in place to shorten shipping times. Shipping waits longer than three days aren’t acceptable.

Available Packages – game rental services should offer a variety of membership packages to meet the diverse needs of its customers. There should be plans to fit the light gamer, the weeknight gamer, or to fit an entire family of gamers.

Brad Martinson asked:

There are countless choices in the games that kids can play. However, not all video game systems are suitable for kids. Some are educational, fun and extra entertaining for many kids to enjoy. Because of our new innovative technology and progress, even changes in the way children games have also transformed to a more realistic and virtual game playing with contents unacceptable for many kids to view.

Before, video games were invented for educational and entertainment purposes that kids have enjoyed playing even today. Most likely, parents did not have to worry about what their kids are playing because game content was safe and fairly protected from harmful contents. Like the Atari video game system, offering wholesome games such as Pac-Man or Space Invaders, kids are open to have a fun and be entertained without any explicit content and away from corruption that could influence the children’s behavior. Unfortunately, changes in technology have altered the way video games are today. Games of today are more realistic and are in stilled with adult content that many game manufacturers have included in their games. Therefore, parents are now concerned on the typical game system that they want their kids to have. In fact, many parents are opting to find the best video game system that is best for their kids but away from adult contents and other threatening factors that could influence the kids.

Unlike before, Atari game system was the best video games made available to kids. Now, video game system has increased due to so many selections available to consumers especially to parents. Large selections of different types of game system such as Sony PlayStation 2, Nintendo’s GameCube, the Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360 video games from Microsoft are some of the selections that parents consider purchasing for their kids.

The best selling game console in the market is the Sony PlayStation 2 (or often referred to as PS2), it caters to all ages while providing about 600 different types of games. These games have been rated for every age bracket to enjoy and specifically for preference of age limitation allowed for each game and level usage. For example, games rated with E are allowed for ages from six and up. Other games at this rating, however, are complicated for younger children to play therefore, rating with E10+ are advisable for children above ten years old to play. Likewise, other games for younger children below 10 are rated with EC or in other words, Early Childhood.

A popular video game system that children basically love is the Nintendo GameCube console. This game system has about 263 games that are based on children’s favorite titles like the Sega’s Sonic GEMS Collections, Mario Party 6 and Mario Tennis from Nintendo, and other game titles particularly for GameCube console that are also rated E.

Another video game system rated E is the Xbox and Xbox 360 video game with a built-in parental control. The Xbox has about 270 available games while the Xbox 360 has about 12 games and increasing with other popular releases. Although, some of these games may not only be available on the Xbox but as well, be available to GameCube and PS2 or all three video game systems mentioned. In such, the Xbox games with E rating like Astropop and Feeding Frenzy can have crossover titles that many publishers have also released and made possible to other video game system. For instance, rated E games like Eidos InteractiveLEGO Star Wars are available to GameCube, PS2 and even Xbox whereas other rated E10+ are also available to other game systems, while other games like the rated EC Global Star Software’s Dora the Explorer are solely for Xbox and PS2 only.

Choosing the best video game system for the kids is important especially if parents are very concerned in their kid’s preference in video game playing. The abovementioned video game system can help parents understand the kinds of video game system available to kids while assisting parents in finding the best video game system to give to them. Parents should keep in mind that video game systems for their kids should have parental control options on the game system to lock functions or set limits to the kind of games or titles allowed for playing or viewing. From the abovementioned video game systems, the most advisable for parents to purchase is the Xbox and Xbox 360 because it comes with a built-in parental control.

Martin asked:

Having never played the original Killzone, I didn’t know what to expect when playing this game for the first time. I knew it was a PS3 exclusive game and I’d heard it had raised the bar graphically but that was all I knew about it. So what did I make of the game?

It is actually awesome. The graphics are amazing and it really does raise the bar for other PS3 games out there. There are a few rough textures here and there, but everything blends together nicely. The multiplayer maps are far more attractive than their single player counterparts, due to the open nature.

The game play is great, albeit slightly frustrating at first as the controls and movements take a little getting used to, but then again this is the case for most games. The game is surprising for it’s user friendliness. I’m not sure I agree with all the complaints about the slow movement and aiming, possibly because I’ve not played the first Killzone game and so can‘t compare between the two. But I think the game developers got the balance they were looking for, as the game is very heavy feeling, and that gives it an edge of authenticity. It gives you a great sense of satisfaction for your kills, especially on multiplayer, instead of most FPS (First Person Shooter) games where it’s just shoot-shoot-shoot with no accomplishment whatsoever.

I also have to mention the pistol you start with in this game. It is awesome. It’s been a long time since an FPS gave you a pistol that didn’t sound like a pop-gun. Pistol lovers, rejoice!

Although the single player mode is supposedly short, the light sprinkling of plot is enjoyable. None of the battles have been too hard so far, and you always get thrown into a new situation before you have a chance to get bored. The varying environments are great, especially the desert-like mining wasteland that evoked a pure sense of desolation. The selection of guns is good, too, especially the bolt gun. You can nail people to walls with it, and since the games physics aren’t overdone (like in most modern games), it gives the weapon a visceral feel.

On multiplayer there are 5 or so different game types, and if they are all enabled on a map they will rotate, so that’s pretty cool. One second you’re trying to assassinate an enemy team member, then gather some items, and then kill as many as you can. The overall scores for all these modes add up at the end of a match to determine the winning team. Games can have up to 32 people in them, not enough to make it too hectic but enough to be enjoyable. You can rank up on multiplayer, unlocking new weapons, abilities, ribbons and all that kind of stuff. There’s hours of fun here if you’re on the mind.

Overall this is a great game, there are better out there but also a lot that are worse. I’d give this game 8 out of 10.

video game review
NBA 08 is a PSP, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 exclusive video game. The game makes another return and continues a similar trend from last season’s NBA 07. That is not necessarily a positive considering the fact that NBA 07 was abysmal. The game is by all means a basketball simulation and not a amazing one. In terms of gameplay, there is not much to enjoy in this game. In this year’s iteration of the game, you can earn points that can bolster your attributes by playing a progression system. There is online support in NBA 08, but you will not be seeing anyone online because they will be busy playing NBA 2K8. The game does have a full season mode with the playoffs and mini games (like shooting drills). Unfortunately, a franchise mode is missing in action. If a gamer does manage to finish the full season mode, then he or she will receive nothing in return. I would have at least expected to see a trophy presentation, but I was mistaken. To make matters worse, there is no free agency and no drafting in this game. At one point, I even saw Steve Nash dunking the basketball. When has he ever dunked the basketball in the NBA? The controls in the game are not bad. You can use the six axis controller to keep the basketball away from defenders on offense; conversely, gamers can utilize the six axis controller to block shots on defense. It was intriguing to see a sports video game implement the six axis controller, and I felt like using the six axis controller was responsive. The artificial intelligence will behave like a bunch of spoiled athletes. They will do countless dubious things such as double teaming the mediocre players and take ill-advised shots. Why the hell the artificial intelligence would leave a player like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James wide open is beyond me. There are maneuvers that you can perform (ala cross over dribbles) that will make the game easier, but the game is never arduous at all. It was fairly obvious that little to no time was spent on the animations and collision detection because anyone can easily score points in this game. I learned that there is no need to use any exotic plays because you can just teleport through the defense without any resistance. It was almost like the defense was holding up a sign that read “I concede, so let me help you win this game by escorting you to the basket.” The graphics in the game is just as horrible as the gameplay. None of the players look like their real life counterparts. Identifying a player can only be done by reading the name on the back of his uniform. Every intricate detail was phenomenal in NBA 2K8. You could even see the stitching and designs on the uniforms in that game. Regrettably, NBA 08 does not even come close to the attention to detail presented in NBA 2K8. I cannot think of any players that are accurately represented in this game. Maybe this was a glitch, but I saw Kevin Garnett wearing pink socks. Kevin Garnett is known for wearing white socks. Things like that have made this game deplorable. Do not even get me started on the audio in this game. The commentators are saying lines as if they are reading from a script; moreover, this is exacerbated by the fact that the commentating is redundant. Overall, this game is lackluster. There is a updated roster for the 2007 to 2008 NBA season, but that is not enough to overcome the myriad of flaws associated with this game. I have had more fun watching a San Antonio Spurs game that playing this terrible excuse for a video game. The game has an immensely rudimentary NBA basketball gaming experience and lacks the immersion that made NBA 2K8 incredible. Do not be fooled into thinking that this game is worth playing because Amare Stoudemire is the cover athlete. As spectacular as Amare Stoudemire might be in the NBA, there is nothing he nor the game developers could have done to make this game enjoyable.

Gditeam asked:

If you are interested in the new Nintendo Wii you should be pretty excited about the cost of the unit. No, you are not going to get it for only a few bucks, but all in all when you compare Wii prices to other units you are most definitely getting a good deal. The Nintendo Wii does not hit stores until November 19, 2006, but with that being said the suggested retail price has been released. The new Wii is going to be priced at $249.99 in the United States. It is safe to say that this low price alone will draw in a lot of customers who do not want to shell out big time money for other gaming systems.

If you compare Wii prices to the Playstation 3 that is also being released in November you will notice one very important thing. The price of the Nintendo Wii is $300 less than that of the new Playstation. That is right; you can buy two Wii units for less than one Playstation 3. With that in mind, it is going to come down to which unit the majority of gamers feel is the better value. Even though you are paying more if you buy the Playstation it does not necessarily mean that you are getting a better deal. It is safe to say that the consumer will decide on what is better over the next few months. This is especially true due to the fact that the holiday season is among us.

Another competitor that you may want to compare Wii prices to is the Microsoft Xbox 360. When the Xbox 360 was released it came at two separate price points; $299 and $399. The higher priced version came with all of the bells and whistles that most gamers were looking for out of a new system. And even though the Xbox has been around for more than a year, prices still remain higher than that of the new Nintendo Wii.

So as you can see when you compare prices of all the systems the Wii comes out on top time and time again. Not only does the new Wii beat competition such as the Playstation 3, but it also competes quite well against older systems such as the Xbox.

The bottom line is that you can compare Wii prices to any other system, and the one from Nintendo comes out on top time and time again. It is obvious that when Nintendo started to draw up plans for its seventh generation game console that they took price into consideration. They figured that if they could offer the best features at a low price that they would come out on top.

Time will tell if the new Nintendo Wii is priced correctly. One thing is for sure. Nintendo will win over a lot of customers for the pure fact that there price is up to three hundred dollars cheaper than the competition. In a comparison of gaming system prices, the Nintendo Wii comes out on top in the end.

Adam Jaylin asked:

After the hegemony established by Sony’s PlayStation series in the gaming industry, it is the time for the race leader to sweat. The gaming consoles launched by Microsoft and Nintendo are competing with their product ‘chip by chip’ and what more the latest trend suggest that they are winning as well!

Launched last year, Microsoft’s X-Box 360 was a phenomenal success in the gaming console market and had better features than the PS2 but Sony was counting on it’s PS3 console to win back all the converts, alas they never considered the Wii factor. Both Nintendo’s Wii and Sony’s PS3 were launched in mid November and both the consoles had different USPs.

Where Nintendo went for an all out World wide launch in an overtly aggressive but somewhat cocky approach, the buzzword for PS3 remained ‘QUALITY’ a promise which they delivered but short supply meant less number of devices available and this led to the success of Nintendo Wii’s success.

By the end of November Wii had reportedly sold more than 600,000 Wii units and that is approximately twice the number of consoles that PS3 has sold in the same period! Now don’t jump onto any conclusions as the fact is that by the time PS3 will deliver all its orders by say the end of January the number of units sold might well be very much closer to what Nintendo has sold but as far as the initial sales are concerned Wii has piped the ‘big brother’ of online games industry.

This trend only highlights the fact that the revolution started by Online Computer Games has evolved tremendously and now these ‘new age’ gaming consoles are replacing the online computer games of the past and carving out a colossal gaming market for themselves in the present electronics industry.

video game review
Working with numbers improves concentration, problem solving skills, memory, focus and general clarity of thought. And there is great news for gamers young and old! Video and computer games are rich with numbers! I have done some research to hone in on the games that utilize math skills to a greater extent.

Computer Games are generally less expensive and a bit more versatile. They are usual sought after by a slightly younger audience. By younger I am referring to school age children. being that a very large portion of video game users are adult males! So I will start with a review of a couple of math focused computer games that I feel are of good quality. Math Munchers Deluxe by The Learning Company reinforces math skills by encouraging problem solving through gaming in areas of whole numbers, decimals, factors and simple geometry. Mighty Math by Edmark teaches geometry concepts using math and and problem solving-solving skills. Students explore attributes of shapes and solids, constructions and transformations, 2D and 3D coordinates, and the relationships between length, perimeter, area, and volume. Teaching Pro: Middle and Highschool Math by Mathsoft has comprehensive coverage to insure students learn math concepts and understand how math is utilized in the real world. The program includes focus in Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry, and Trigonometry. It meets mandated curriculum standards in all states!

There are many math focused games readily available online. Suduko revolves around attempting to fill in a grid so that each line contains the numbers one through nine only once. This games is a widely known addictive brain teaser. It is a great game for sharpening math skills and is available for free on numerous websites and downloadable for your cell phone! Timez Attack is real video game created by the same engineers who have worked on Play Station games. The object of the game is to your way through the dungeon maze and foil those who would get in your way. You will develop your math skills while defeating a host of challenging obstacles and characters. The base version of this game is free at big online. The full length version is also available.

Nintendo offers a game called Math Play for the DS. This game encourages the player to create equations in four different game modules by arranging numbered cards. There are a variety of difficulty levels. There is also competitive multiplayer action and addictive puzzle play.

Donkey Kong Jr. Math has received mixed reviews. By mixed I mean not so great. It is one of the only math specific games however, that my search turned up for GameCube or Wii. When dealing with the game consoles, such as PS2, Gamecube or Wii I would choose puzzle games which are more abundant and tend to require math skill.

Working with numbers keeps many of our skills sharp including problem solving and improves general clarity of thought. Video and computer games are rich with numbers whether they are geared to be a math games or not. Research has brought a few games that focus on math to the surface so they might catch your eye more easily in the future!

video game review
Evolution and not revolution is to be considered in the case of the nano video 8GB blue; this winning gadget has conquered the current market and every user is no stranger when it comes to this amazing device. One can also have a glimpse of all the existing changes that are coming along the new device that feels as being a little mouse when compared to the previous gadgets. Every user will start marveling at all the little touches that are required in order to make this device work according to its own instructions; its slideshow is cool and every viewer will allow himself to watch the drifting images. The images can be drifted slowly in order for the viewer to see everything. A substantial redesign was provided in order for the iPod to accommodate the video playback and the new games. Despite all these changes, the IPod nano 3rd generation review states that the iPod remains one of the thinnest and smallest devices. Its MP3 player is designed in an exquisite manner too. It is also one of the most affordable devices that are to be found on the current market.

The redesign of the nano video 8Gb blue has its own amount of criticism; many detractors are likely to call it chubby. The device is also blamed for looking squat and awkward; but all this reservation is not to be taken too seriously because the latest iPod makes the previous one look like a real skyscraper. Its brighter screen is one of its best features because the users have always searched for larger screens that can provide them with a full display of the main menu. The menu system has been changed; one striking change resides in the split-screen menu that allows the user to have a full display of images and information. The iPod can also be used as a support for the video playback; despite its small size, this phone can support different features that are to be found in larger devices that are twice its size. The video games may have their own support thanks to the new features that have been added to the iPod. Handy ways of spending the spare time will be provided to the user but he should not expect his iPod to compete with major play stations.

The IPod nano 3rd generation review shows that the latest iPod may include all the small touches that can be easily missed; the music shuffle function is also included on this list because it has a experienced a subtle evolution. The user will be let to easily engage and disengage from the existent shuffle function; few presses will be needed in order to achieve that and the user will have to use the center button of the iPod. All the shuffle setting alternatives and options are placed in every song’s window thus giving you the possibility to randomize all the songs until you have found the desired one. This may be considered as a true lazy listener’s dream and this dream has become true.

But the audio file format has not been changed; but the copy-protected files are supported regardless of the purchased iPod. The iPod has unique requirements when it comes to the files management but the manual addition is also allowed. You can add or even delete the files you want without having to face the hassles that is usually related to the play list syncing. Some additional features are planned for the models to come. The future iPod will include some unique abilities such as the one that regards the use of the headphone jack. The headphone jack will be used as a video output with composite features. Videos and photos will be played right to the user’s television set without the need of having the third-party interface. Eventually, the little used features will be removed in order to reduce the construction costs.

The sound quality when it comes to the nano video 8Gb blue is questionable; it still sounds as if the iPod is in the middle of the road. The sound quality is quite middling but this does not seem the affect the number of sales. On the contrary, the latest iPod remains one of the best selling products. Every user will notice that the video performance of this device has actually stolen the entire show; but he is likely to prefer watching the full-length movie on larger screens. Still, the video experience that is provided by the iPod must be enjoyed. All the existent features may convince you to upgrade your present iPod; the latest model is likely to satisfy all your needs when it comes to the video possibilities that have been designed in order to make all the small touches available to you.
