Fantastic Fanatec Gaming Seatis here!

We are always testing gaming seats and steering wheels, and we recently had the pleasure of playing with products from Fanatec! As you’d expect from a German Company - a solid piece of gaming seat Engineering from a German organisation with links to Porsche!

Wheel Stand

The issue we have with Gaming Cockpits/Seats (eg. If you have lots of space available, then VisionRacers & Fanatec CockPits are the thing - if you dont have much room, there are alternatives. This is where the Fanatec Wheel Stand comes into its own… The RennSport started life as a step up from the traditional keyboard/mouse, or joystick. In my experience, PC users were generally keyboard & mouse focussed, whilst console people used joysticks. The Wheel stand is something different - you can use whilst sitting on a couch, and have a fantastic experience. The wheelstand is close to the final evolution of the gaming console, only just behind the gaming seats from VisionRacer and Fanatec. The next stage in the evolution would be a cockpit/gaming seat - although we’ll cover that in another article.

Solid engineering makes a real difference in the car, and the gaming seat is no different - just like BMW or Audi, Fanatec deliver the goods!) and it does the job well. The product isn’t in the same league as VisionRacer or Cockpit, and the price reflects this. Fanatec products are solid pieces of engineering that hold up to the rigours of gaming seat punishment, and you dont need a table for them either - just your games machine! From experience, we usually sell these for console people, as they are so easy to put away when not in use.

One of the advantages of the RennSport Wheel Stand is that it doesn’t take up much room, and you can use your existing sofa to get something comfortable and enjoyable. Comfort comfort comfort - neat and tidy, and readily accessible pedals make this a real pleasure!

If you are short on space for a gaming seat - get the WheelStand, its a worthy investment! A real plus is that it is easy to pack away, whilst being rock solid - being made out of aluminum, this really helps.

Fanatec CockPit

The CockPit has great adjustment range, it looks impressive, and you can make some adjustments to the monitor height. This is a great product if you have a young family, i.e. a range of different sizes, as the Cockopit can be adjusted for the individual. The sliding keyboard holder is a nice touch too. Its easy to see that these people made the steering wheel for the Porsche 911, and this design capability extends to the pedals too - nice touch!

Combine the Cockpit Gaming seat with an XBOX or PS3 steering wheel such as the G25, and you wont look back. The advantage of the CockPit over the VisionRacer is that it supports 3 monitors (24”) out of the box - or one 37” display. Acoustically, it was a nice touch to see the inbuilt 5.1 design.1 surround sound too. You dont have a Gaming Seat unless you have a superb audio system, and this cockpit has all this.

We found the CockPit a good competitor to the VisionRacer, British vs German Engineering - so here’s a thought - buy a VisionRacer and a Fanatec Cockpit and race against each other, Aston Martin vs BMW!
