If you own an Xbox 360, you most likely have heard of the red ring of death and probably have heard of the Xbox Ring of Death Towel Trick. The “trick” behind the Towel Trick is that you wrap a towel around your Xbox so it gets hot enough to somehow get rid of the red ring of death. The thing is, the towel trick may work for you, but it will only work short-term and will damage your Xbox in the long term. Don’t just take this as a grain of salt. Let me explain to you why it will damage it long-term.

This is why you get the red 3 flashing lights: it has to do with the solder underneath the chips. Microsoft was trying to be green and mainly cut costs by using a cheaper soldering material. Because of the material of the soldering joints, when the Xbox is on for a long period of time, the metal expands. It’s supposed to expand with heat, but the issue has to do when it cools down. When this happens, air bubbles begin to form within the solder and it begins a process called cold solder joint. What happens is under the chips where these weak points are formed, they being to crack with the Xbox 360 always heating up and cooling down.

What happens is that the towel trick makes the Xbox heat up even more, causing more cracks later on.

The way the towel trick works is that it gets too hot and the solder melts, but it also creates more issues like more air bubbles. These hairline cracks are large enough so that current doesn’t pass through to the chips.

I highly recommend that you get a copy of www.360FixKit.com to fix your Xbox once and for all.

Good luck with you Xbox and I encourage you to check out the Xbox Ring of Death site. Add my gamer ID to your Xbox live.

The thing is, the towel trick may work for you, but it will only work short-term and will damage your Xbox in the long term. But don’t take my word for it, let me explain to you why.

This is why you get the red 3 flashing lights: it has to do with the solder underneath the chips. Microsoft decided to try and save money by using a cheaper material for the solder that was better for the environment, but the quality wasn’t as good. Because of the material of the soldering joints, when the Xbox is on for a long period of time, the metal expands. It’s supposed to expand with heat, but the issue has to do when it cools down. When this happens, air bubbles begin to form within the solder and it begins a process called cold solder joint. Just like a computer is supposed to heat up and cool down, it creates a crack under the chips with cause the red ring of death.

This is why the Xbox 360 towel trick will just make things worse.

The towel trick only works for a few days because it gets so hot that it melts the solder joints but creates more cracks down the line. These cracks don’t have to be big. Even a hairline crack is enough for electrical current to be cut off.

Fix your Xbox the correct way with the 360FixKit system.

If you have an Xbox 360, chances are that you have encountered some problems with your Xbox.

You don’t have to settle for turning your Xbox into a brick. Check out these tips to help you out.

Just like a radiator in your car that keeps it cool, your Xbox needs to keep cool too, but it uses fans. The first tip is to keep the Xbox console cool by making sure it is well-ventilated.

Put the unit on a hard surface like hardwood floors so that it can breathe. Do what you do with the Xbox console as you do with the power supply unit. In other words, make sure the power adapter gets some air too.

I guarantee that these two things alone will make sure your Xbox 360 console is running at it’s peak. Take the time in between gaming sessions to let your Xbox chill for a bit and so you can relax your mind and body. When your Xbox overheats, never put it in the freezer or fridge. You’ll just get condensation inside and mess it up.

Some other problems include the 2 ring of death and RROD.

Here is a bit of background the on red ring of death Xbox. The Red Ring of Death was coined because around the power button it would light up red instead of green and make a ring. The best is when you have green lights around your power button because that means your Xbox is working perfectly fine. Have you ever had your Xbox freeze?

The culprit is if your Xbox gets too hot. Or in other words over heats. Also have you heard of the E74 code? The E74 Error is also known as the 1 ring of death. It sucks when you get the E74 error on your Xbox because it’s not covered by Microsoft’s warranty.
